Manchester United gave a huge chance to Jesse Lingard in the lead up to the international break, and the young man has certainly took his chance. That led to him being called up to the England squad for the first time in a meteoric rise up the football ladder in a short space of time.
The young man has been speaking to the media about his style of play, and indicated one area in which he personally feels he must improve.
“We created a lot of chances vs Watford, and personally I should have scored a couple of clear-cut chances.” Jesse Lingard said. “I’ve obviously got to work on that but it’s great to see Basti at the back post to stick one in at the end.”
Lingard has been a revelation since breaking into Louis van Gaal’s first team plans. He brings that pace, trickery and willingness to run at his defender and it has been a breath of fresh air.
However if he had that bit more composure in his arsenal, he could have a few more goals under his belt. This was highlighted by that chip he missed late on against Watford, but at least he knows what he has to work on to improve his game.
