Jesse Lingard is ready to call time on his career at Manchester United.
Well, this has been coming. Manchester United Football Club could be about to lose one of their homegrown stars on a permanent deal this summer – in the form of Jesse Lingard.
The Warrington-born-winger had fallen out-of-favour at Old Trafford after a poor couple of years. However, Lingard has been given a brand new lease of life at West Ham United, where the Englishman is playing some brilliant football.
Now, according to Eurosport, the United star who has made 210 appearances for the club, is set to ‘push’ for a permanent exit away from the Theatre of Dreams.
His form at West Ham has convinced Lingard that it’s best to depart United, as he wants to leave ‘for good’ when the summer transfer window opens.
Lingard was frustrated and unimpressed with the lack of faith shown in him by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer so understandably, he doesn’t want to come back to that.
Understandably, West Ham themselves have tried to accelerate United into making a permanent decision on Lingard’s future – though in the end, it seems inevitable that he’ll be allowed to move on from the club for good at some point.
David Moyes tried to sign Lingard for £15m back in January but credit to United, who knocked that back, knowing full well if Lingard played well, they’d be able to command a larger fee.
I just hope this transfer gets sorted sooner rather than later. I pray that West Ham can find the cash to sign Lingard as he’s loving life at the moment. However, I don’t doubt they’ll be plenty of potential buying clubs if West Ham doesn’t stump up the money. His form has been amazing and it has been a pleasure watching him play at such a high level, all while enjoying himself which is the most important thing.
