Zlatan Ibrahimovic made his return from an ACL injury a few weeks ago now, but over the last couple of games, the 6’5 striker hasn’t been included in the matchday squad.
Today, Manchester United take on CSKA Moscow in their final Champions League group game, and the forward won’t be playing in that fixture either, according to Jose Mourinho.
The manager met the media to discuss a variety of pre-match topics, including the fact that the 36-year-old Ibrahimovic is not injured, but instead, he’s suffering from fatigue – probably due to a lack of game time.
Jose: "Zlatan is not injured. He needs to work very hard on the muscular area that supports the knee that had the problem. When that hard work comes, so does fatigue." #MUFC

I still find it remarkable that the Swede was able to recover so quickly. We all knew that it was going to take some time for his body to get fully up to speed, and he has plenty of time to keep working back to fitness, so there is absolutely no reason to rush the procedure.
The good news is the fact that Ibrahimovic hasn’t picked up another injury. That would have been the worst possible news to hear at this point in his career. Who knows, we may see him back in the squad against Manchester City when the top two Premier League sides meet on Sunday…
