Manchester United Football Club have just one more dead rubber left; a game against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford in the Premier League. Honestly, the fixture is as pointless as i can remember in recent years and I bet Jose Mourinho and the players would prefer to just not play it…
Anyway, ahead of that match we have received some good news. Timothy Fosu-Mensah is back in training which wasn’t expected, but what is even better than that, the boss has confirmed that the talented Dutchman will indeed start the match.
“Tim Fosu-Mensah plays on Sunday and, if the reaction is good, and if he manages to play the game without problems, he’s a new option for us for the final.” Jose Mourinho told ManUtd.com.
This is just great, and I’m genuinely of the opinion that a half-fit Fosu-Mensah will do a better job at centre-half than both Chris Smalling and Phil Jones. He’s a supremely talented 19-year-old who hasn’t played all that much this season, which is somewhat disappointing.
However, this could be his chance to prove his worth to the manager. He’s a man who played an awful lot last term under Louis van Gaal, but has had to remain patient this year. In fact, his last start was months ago in an EFL Cup game against lower league opposition.
For him to get this opportunity is great, now it’s down to him to grasp it with both hands.
