Well, Manchester United’s preparations for the derby against Manchester City on Thursday will be well underway. Jose Mourinho’s men will be buoyant after a good string of results, but our injury situation doesn’t seem to be easing up. In fact, it’s getting worse.
The self-proclaimed Special One has met the media ahead of the clash, and given us bittersweet injury news. Ander Herrera has been passed fit which is massive, but unfortunately, we’ll be without the most expensive player in the world; Paul Pogba.
Mourinho says Valencia is ready to return for #MUFC on Thursday. Asked if Pogba and Herrera are fit, the boss replied: "Paul no, Ander yes." pic.twitter.com/tGGuhLlfZI

We’re unsure as to what the issue is for the 24-year-old Pogba, but he had to be subbed off at the weekend. Hopefully, it isn’t anything serious and he can get himself back fit as soon as possible because his creativity will be a huge miss – even more so if it’s for the long-term.
As for Ander Herrera, it’s huge that he is ready and raring to go. We’ve seen some simply stunning football from him recently, and his energy and work rate in the middle of the park could be critical. It also gives Mourinho the option to man-mark someone out of the game in a similar fashion to how he kept Eden Hazard quiet when we played Chelsea. On both sides of the ball, he will be a real thorn in City’s side.
The match itself will definitely be interesting and it literally could go either way. It’s a shame that our injury worries could be a telling factor in this one, but I always feel confident that we’ll get a positive result every single time we play.
