Jose Mourinho is desperate to sign FC Barcelona star Sergi Roberto, according to Diario Gol, translated by the Daily Mail.
Furthermore than that, the report says that Jose Mourinho has already begun talks with the Spaniard’s agent about a potential move to the Theatre of Dreams.
It’s quite clear to see why Mourinho wants to sign Roberto, as he’s extremely versatile, similar to Ashley Young.
The 25-year-old struggled at the Camp Nou last term, but under Ernesto Valverde, he’s beginning to enjoy his football once again, meaning it’ll probably be hard to prise him away from Catalonia.
Apparently, Roberto wants a pay-rise to remain at Barcelona, as he feels he’s more important than his wage packet currently says. Mourinho has told him he’ll earn whatever he wants at Manchester United.
Liverpool have also expressed an interest in the midfielder, and no doubt they’ll be a whole host of clubs rivalling us for his signature if Roberto does indeed push through a move away.
I like Roberto and I think he’d be an astute signing, but only at the right price. He’s a player who probably wouldn’t start every week for United, more a man who can come in and out of the team, filling in holes where needed.
