As we all know, Manchester United made one of the best signings of recent times as they acquired Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free transfer. The influential Swede has already scored an impressive 26 goals across all competitions, and he deserves huge praise for that.
At this point in time, we’re still unsure as to whether Zlatan plans on remaining a Red Devil beyond the current season, as he only has a one-year contract. The forward himself spoke out about the situation yesterday.
Now, Jose Mourinho has been asked about Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and whether he thinks the 35-year-old will stay on for another twelve months.
“I am just calm and waiting for the decision,” Mourinho said whilst speaking Soccer Saturday, of Sky Sports.
“If the decision is for him to stay and he is happy with that, we are delighted with that. If his decision is to leave and try to find a different challenge, I will be also happy for him.”
To me, it sounds like this one could go either way. As Manchester United fans, we’d all love for Ibrahimovic to stay, but we have to respect his decision either way.
Mourinho seems to have this real bond with Zlatan that goes beyond football, and it’s nice to see how close they are. With that said, I bet that Jose Mourinho would love for his mate to stay for another year, purely because it gives the Manchester United manager one less thing to worry about.
I just don’t see where he’d go, to be honest. Unless he’s had enough of the rigours of top-level football and he sees himself moving to the MLS for the lifestyle, then I’d understand that move completely.
