Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho remains in the dark regarding Anthony Martial’s Old Trafford future.
The 22-year-old Frenchman is yet to return to training following the birth of his second child, but the self-proclaimed Special One ‘doesn’t know’ if the former AS Monaco man will link up with his teammates, according to Sky Sports News.
Martial’s future has been up in the air practically all summer, with rumours rife suggesting that he wants out. This is probably the clearest indication that Mourinho wants him gone, too. Heck, why should he put up with an unhappy player on a daily basis?
I love Martial as a player, I’m not sold on his mentality, though. After a tough three months, he wants to run at the first opportunity. That’s not something that is required to play for United, no player is a guaranteed starter every single week. If he wants to go, then let him. That’ll present an opportunity for someone else; heck, Alexis Sanchez is lighting up pre-season at the moment.
Personally, I think this is already too far-gone. Martial has to get his move away this summer, preferably to an overseas club. His toxicity in and around the dressing room won’t help matters if he stays, so Mourinho has to find him a new club ASAP.
