Manchester United Football Club kick off their Europa League campaign tomorrow evening, with an away game at Dutch side Feyenoord. The team will be hoping to get back to winning ways following a disappointing defeat in the Manchester derby on Saturday afternoon.
Ahead of the game, Jose Mourinho has named the 20-man squad that will head to Rotterdam, and it includes a few notable omissions for one reason or another.
Wayne Rooney, Jesse Lingard, Luke Shaw and Antonio Valencia have all been left at home and won’t be eligible to play in the match, allowing others a chance to prove their worth for the first time this season.
You suspect that Luke Shaw and Jesse Lingard are still carrying little knocks, whereas the gaffer has chosen to rest Wayne Rooney and Antonio Valencia after both featured for their countries during the international break.
It does present an opportunity for players who haven’t featured yet, though. Matteo Darmian, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay to name a few. The game will no doubt be interesting.
