Jose Mourinho escapes punishment for incident during Young Boys victory

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has often had his run-ins with the Football Association. Most recently, he could be in hot water after an incident which involved him apparently swearing into a camera in a different language…

Against Young Boys on Tuesday night, the self-proclaimed Special One decided to launch a tray of water bottles following United’s late winner courtesy of Marouane Fellaini.

Immediately, I thought he had a ban or a fine coming his way, but to my surprise, Sky Sports News say that UEFA doesn’t plan to punish the United manager following his latest outburst.

First of all, you just know the FA would have been all over him for that, particularly after handing him a touchline ban for kicking a water bottle last season. Thankfully, though, it seems as though UEFA have more common sense.

As for the reaction itself, I was somewhat disappointed. Why does Mourinho always have to make it about him? The performance was far from vintage, but Fellaini’s late winner made me feel relieved more than anything else. The reaction just wasn’t necessary, it was Young Boys, at home, hardly anything to shout about. However, what’s done is done and at least he’ll be in the dugout for our game against Valencia.
