Jose Mourinho explains ear-cup celebration following Man United’s 2-1 win over Juventus

Manchester United Football Club always put us through it, don’t they? The Red Devils left it late to beat Juventus, but what a result and what a performance it was!

The three points were, dare I say deserved. United went toe-to-toe with one of the best teams in Europe and beat them in their own backyard. The confidence was flowing, the football was good, now, the group has been thrown wide open once again.

Following the match, Jose Mourinho couldn’t help himself as he cupped his ear, upsetting some Juventus players in the process, as his team come-from-behind to win it in a thriller.

Now, the self-proclaimed Special One has explained his celebration:

“I was insulted 90 minutes and I’m just here doing my work. I was insulted, my family was insulted, my Inter family was insulted as well. And I did the gesture meaning I wanted to hear more songs now.” Journalist Mootaz Chehade quotes Mourinho as saying.

Why shouldn’t he bite back? As the old saying goes, if you give it, you have to take it back. Mourinho has made a career out of moments like this. That’s just who he is. Honestly, we shouldn’t even be surprised.

It was just a great result for everyone associated this club. Mourinho justified himself perfectly, and he was extremely classy in his post-match presser, as he said he probably shouldn’t have done what he did, but the moment just got the better of him.

More than anything, this is a huge momentum-builder going into the Manchester derby. We proved last season that City can be beaten on their own turf, now, it’s time to repeat that feat and drag ourselves back into the title race in the process.
