Jose Mourinho explains where Manchester United are struggling this season

Manchester United Football Club have been very hit and miss at home this season, and once again at the weekend, we dropped more points in a rather needless manner. The beneficiary of our misfortune this time was AFC Bournemouth who held on with ten men throughout the second 45.

After the game, Mourinho met the media to discuss just exactly what the issue is, and he confirmed that we’re struggling to win our home games. At this point in time, it looks as though that’s exactly what could cost us when it comes to a top four finish, but there are still plenty of games to go yet.

“The reality is we are losing too many points at home,” Mourinho said in his post-match press conference. “These matches at home against Hull, Burnley, Bournemouth, Stoke – it’s more of the same.

“We play well, we start well, we have one chance in the first minute and another in the third or fifth minute. But then their goalkeeper gets confident and he is eventually the Man of the Match.”

It must be a real concern for the self-proclaimed Special One. These are the types of matches that we really have to be winning, especially given the strength in depth we have in our squad.

This weekend definitely felt like deja vu for us fans. We started well and we were absolutely peppering Boruc’s goal with great opportunities that we just couldn’t take. Then, we gave away a daft penalty and from that point onwards the chances just weren’t falling for us.
