Jose Mourinho is eyeing a move for Ajax attacker Justin Kluivert, with the 19-year-old favouring a move to Manchester United.
That’s according to The Guardian, who say that the forward had been in contract talks with the Dutch clubs, but the parties haven’t been able to reach any agreement.
Kluivert has struck ten times in thirty league games this term as his stature across the European game continues to grow.
There is no doubting he’s a talented lad, but moving from the Eredivisie to the Premier League is a huge step up; particularly at such a tender age.
I’d have my doubts about the move in general, though. It just doesn’t seem very Mourinho-like, who tends to go for the proven player rather than a young talent.
Plus you have to factor Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford. I see the Dutchman as a lesser-developed version of the aforementioned duo, so why would the club set themselves back by letting one of Martial or Rashford go, in order to bring in a player who wouldn’t bring as much to the table.
To top it all off, he certainly isn’t going to be cheap. I suppose United have money aplenty though, so that shouldn’t be an issue.
