Manchester United’s attentions will turn back to Europa League football on Thursday evening, when Jose Mourinho’s men will take to the field against a Feyenoord side who beat the Red Devils last time around. Ahead of that match, the manager has given us some early team news.
Jose Mourinho has revealed that Henrikh Mkhitaryan will play some part in the game, which will be huge for the confidence of the Armenian who has been left out of proceedings recently.
“Yes. I told him today [Saturday] that he is going to be involved in the game against Feyenoord. He is trying. Obviously, he is not happy but he is transforming his frustration in a good way, which is to close the mouth, work hard and try to adapt.
“I told him ‘this was not the game for you’ because I don’t think he needs 10 or 20 minutes from the bench. I said ‘I think you need a good game and you need to either start or, if not, to come for the second half’. He needs less pressure and better conditions for him to express his qualities.”
Finally, it looks as though we’re going to see the attacker get a decent amount of minutes under his belt, and if he performs it’ll surely be a treat for those fans who’ll don the Old Trafford terraces on Thursday.
On his day, he’s up there with the best creators on the planet, but this poor start to life in Manchester has definitely knocked his confidence. I’ve no doubts that he will come back from this and force his way into Jose Mourinho’s plans though, because that’s how good he is.
