Jose Mourinho gives us huge news about when Eric Bailly will be back in action

Manchester United have been struggling defensively recently, and you have to say a large part of that has to be down to the injuries in that area of the field. Chris Smalling is out for the foreseeable future, and we’ve been without Eric Bailly for a while too…

However, Jose Mourinho has now given us an injury update on the Ivorian centre-back, who suffered knee ligament damage over a month ago now.

“He is working hard and will be back before the end of the year, for sure,” Mourinho said, speaking before the Feyenoord game.

“But on 3 January he goes away for a month [to play in the African Cup of Nations].”

Thankfully, we will see him back in a red shirt over the hectic winter schedule which will be great, and his presence alone will be a massive lift for the back line.

However, as Jose says, we will be missing him throughout all of January and the start of February due to the African Cup of Nations. That’s a competition the Ivory Coast tend to do well in, and I’d expect them to go on and make the latter rounds once again.
