As we all know, Manchester United spent big to lure Nemanja Matic to Old Trafford over the summer, in a move that could prove to be worth its weight in gold come the end of the season. The Serbia star, 29, loves to sit in front of the back four and do the dirty work; and that’s something the Red Devils have lacked in over the last few seasons.
However, ahead of the UEFA Super Cup, Jose Mourinho has hinted that Matic may not be fully ready to take on Real Madrid. In fact, his latest comments make me wonder whether he’ll play from the start.
When asked about Matic personally, Mourinho told United’s official page:
“He is available, but not as available as others.”

I pray that the former Chelsea midfielder does get the start, because we desperately need him for the big Premier League kick-off against West Ham on Sunday, and the only way he’ll build up that all-important match fitness is by playing.
So far, Matic only has 45 minutes football under his belt, and if he can up that to an hour in the Super Cup against Real Madrid, he’ll be much better prepared to make his Old Trafford bow come the weekend.
Will he start? Who knows, but these latest comments from the self-proclaimed Special One don’t sound all that convincing.
