As we all know, David de Gea’s Manchester United contract is winding down, and as of yet, we’re still to hear positive news in regards to the Spaniard putting pen to paper on a new deal…
Now, according to The Sun, per The Metro, Jose Mourinho has seemingly already begun plotting a move for De Gea’s potential replacement.
Apparently, the self-proclaimed Special One is looking at Everton’s #1 Jordan Pickford, whom Mourinho is a big fan of.
The 24-year-old has become a national hero over the last few months, following an impressive summer while playing for England over in Russia.
However, you’d imagine that Everton would be keen on keeping ahold of Pickford for as long as possible. He’s got immense value for The Toffees, and he’s genuinely worth several points a season due to his brilliant shot-stopping ability.
From a United standpoint, it’s always going to be tough to replace a goalkeeper like De Gea, but I feel they could do a whole lot worse than Pickford. If I had one criticism, is that he’s a tad short, but height aside, he’s a brilliant goalkeeper who is still improving year-on-year.
