Jose Mourinho has massive plans to improve Manchester United’s playing squad this summer, as he looks to bring in footballers that suit his tactics. Alongside that, though, he will have to move some players on that don’t fit his system.
According to the Daily Mirror, four players who are at risk of the axe from the self-proclaimed Special One are Memphis Depay, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Marouane Fellaini and Matteo Darmian.
Somewhat surprisingly, Juan Mata is not involved in that list, and the Mirror add that he will get a chance to prove his worth.
As you’d imagine, Memphis Depay could well be sold as he didn’t really perform well last term, but you feel he still has something to offer. The same applies with Matteo Darmian who started life at United excellently, but the second half of his season wasn’t great.
You’d understand Mourinho’s decision to sell Marouane Fellaini as he just doesn’t fit United’s style of play. Bastian Schweinsteiger is a tough one, because he has bags of ability and composure on the ball, but his injuries will always be an issue.
