Manchester United have had an extremely mixed start to the season, with Jose Mourinho’s side producing some brilliant results, but also some below-par performances that have led to some abysmal displays. However, it’s good to see the manager remaining proactive and trying to work out where he needs to strengthen.
Now the Daily Mail say that the Manchester United manager has identified two key positions in which he wants to bring in new faces. He sees the centre-back and right-back slots as a key area of the field, and you can see exactly why with the poor performances of Chris Smalling, and the seemingly always injured Phil Jones. One man who United are believed to be looking at is Antonio Rudiger of AS Roma.
The right-back position isn’t as straightforward. Antonio Valencia has been performing excellently recently, but it’s his backup where the real issue lies. Matteo Darmian is a liability, and Jose doesn’t have that trust in Timothy Fosu-Mensah at this point despite all his talents.
