Jose Mourinho makes extremely bold Diogo Dalot claim

Yesterday, Manchester United Football Club signed Diogo Dalot; the little-known right-back from FC Porto.

Jose Mourinho clearly isn’t messing around this summer, with the 19-year-old already the Red Devils’ second summer acquisition.

Us fans hadn’t really heard much about Dalot, but following the manager’s latest quotes, United followers have every right to be excited. Despite playing just six first-team games in his career, the manager has made an extremely bold claim:

“In his age group, he is the best full-back in Europe and we all believe he has a bright future ahead of him at Manchester United.” Mourinho said as Dalot was confirmed a Red Devil.

There are some brilliant full-backs in his age bracket in world football. The name that immediately springs to mind is Trent Alexander-Arnold, and if we’re acquiring a better player than the Englishman, we’ve done extremely well to get him for under £20million.

Dalot is quick, strong and an immensely hard-working individual. In terms of a player for the future, I genuinely believe we’ve a real star in the making. Perhaps we won’t see his talents immediately though, as usurping Antonio Valencia in the team will not be easy.

What’s good news for the man from Portugal is the fact that he can play on the left-hand side of defence, too, and that versatility is exactly what could earn him a chance at those all-important minutes in the 2018/19 campaign.
