Jose Mourinho is set to make a huge call in terms of team news, with the manager set to bench Paul Pogba for the Red Devils’ game against Sevilla tonight. That’s according to the usually reliable ESPN.
The Frenchman missed Manchester United’s victory over Huddersfield at the weekend with an illness, but trained the day after the clash, while joining his teammates aboard the plane that jetted off to Seville.
I could be totally wrong here, but I feel that there is something more going on. Perhaps the pair have had a disagreement or falling out, and this is Mourinho’s way of asserting his dominance.
The report says that Mourinho will play a three-man midfield, consisting of Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera and Scott McTominay. It’s a huge opportunity, particularly for the latter, but I cannot help the game will be much tougher without Pogba on the field.
Whichever team the gaffer picks, the fans have to fully get behind the squad. We still should have more than enough firepower to overcome Sevilla over two legs, despite the fact that they themselves are an excellent team.
