Time is dwindling down for Manchester United to make their mark in the transfer market. After a fast start as the Red Devils acquired both Fred and Diogo Dalot, things have slowed down pretty quickly; with only Lee Grant added since.
After some sub-par performances while out on pre-season tour, it’s understandable that the fans are demanding more. After finishing way off the pace in the Premier League title race, work on the squad was needed – in terms of both ins and outs.
Speaking about United’s transfer dealings, Jose Mourinho has stated that he wanted two new arrivals before the summer window slams shut; although in all likelihood, we’ll only see one new addition.
“I would like to have two more players, I think I’m not going to have two. I think that it’s possible I’m going to have one, it’s possible.” Mourinho is quoted as saying by The Guardian.
In terms of personnel, we’re none the wiser as to whom that player will be. I’d love to see a Premier League proven centre-half come in; Harry Maguire or Toby Alderweireld would be perfect, but even so, there is still more work needed.
Now it’s down to Edward Woodward to do all he can to force at least one deal through. With less than two weeks remaining, the United vice-chairman simply has to pull his finger out.
