Manchester United have talents flourishing at the highest level right now, with Marcus Rashford at the forefront of that. The Old Trafford club have always been known for their ability to nurture young players and turn them into world beaters, and Jose Mourinho has singled out another star in the making.
The man coming in for rather high praise from the gaffer is Joel Pereira. The 20-year-old is currently our third choice goalkeeper at the moment, in behind both David de Gea and Sergio Romero.
However, Pereira has received some extremely high praise from his manager, with his fellow countryman claiming that the shot-stopper is ‘one of the best of his generation’.
“We have a third goalkeeper that I think will be the best Portuguese goalkeeper of the next generation,” Jose Mourinho told Manchester United’s official website.
What this tells me is that we really should be excited by Pereira. This is a huge confidence-booster for the young man, and it’s great to hear such kind words about our potential #1 for the future.
Aside from one substitute appearance, we haven’t really seen an awful lot from the Portuguese youngster, but it certainly bodes well for the future. Who knows, if he keeps his cool and bides his time here, Pereira could go on to become a club legend.
