Jose Mourinho offers an injury update on Jesse Lingard following Boro win

Manchester United Football Club finally managed to move out of sixth position in the Premier League table, with Jose Mourinho’s side climbing up to fifth. Today, the Red Devils beat Middlesbrough 3-1, in a performance that wasn’t all that convincing, but they managed to get the job done.

Marouane Fellaini opened the scoring with an excellent header in the first-half, before Jesse Lingard executed a wonderful long distance shot that flew into Victor Valdes’ net. Then Antonio Valencia wrapped things up late on, after a flurry from our hosts.

After the game, the Manchester United manager was quizzed about his decision to sub one of the goalscorers in the form of Jesse Lingard. The self-proclaimed Special One responded by admitting that the Englishman perhaps has a slight ankle twinge.

“I think maybe something in his ankle but nothing serious,” Mourinho is quoted as saying, as per the Daily Star.

Thankfully, it isn’t anything serious. The Warrington-born lad has been a real asset for Manchester United at times this season, and he’s been a real excellent squad player ever since he broke through into the first-team.

The young man had also been called up to the England squad and it’ll be a good opportunity to prove his worth on the international stage, so hopefully, he can get himself fit and ready to go for Gareth Southgate.
