Jose Mourinho offers Spaniard a reunion with him at United: report

Manchester United Football Club brought Jose Mourinho in over the summer, and it’s fair to say he’s been pretty good so far. Now, he could be about to bring one of his old pals to Old Trafford, if reports coming form the Daily Mirror are to be believed.

They say that Mourinho could be reunited with one of his former assistant manager’s, Aitor Karanka. The Spaniard was recently sacked by Middlesbrough, just before United played them at the Riverside Stadium before the international break.

Now, the 43-year-old could be about to go back to being an assistant, with Mourinho offering his mate a chance to become a part of his backroom team at the Theatre of Dreams.

Honestly, I’m not sure what to make of this. To me, it seems a bit bizarre if I’m being honest. Karanka had done a wonderful job at ‘Boro for the most part of his four-year stay there, and I just don’t understand why he’d want to take a step backwards.

Alright, he’ll be moving to a bigger club, but surely he’d want to continue being a manager to try and further his career in that regard. In the aforementioned report, The Mirror do say that Karanka has been offered jobs back in Spain but he’s seriously considering his options before making a final decision. I guess we’ll just have to sit tight and see what happens.
