Manchester United’s new manager Jose Mourinho isn’t scared of making huge decisions as we’ve seen from his time at various clubs. The self-proclaimed Special One is all set to make another huge choice, by keeping Wayne Rooney as his captain.
The news comes from the usually reliable Steve Bates of the Sunday People, who say that Jose has already been in conversation with Rooney as they map out plans for the future.
It is believed the duo discussed several topics, including transfer plans, and what went wrong at Manchester United next season. Mourinho sees Rooney as that figurehead at Old Trafford as the club prepare for their first season under the influential Portuguese manager.
At this point in time, Rooney is one of just a few senior faces left at the Theatre of Dreams, and keeping him as captain is certainly the wisest decision. He knows the role, and as we’ve seen from recent performances, he is prepared to drag his side through like a good leader should.
