Despite spending big on the midfield in the form of Paul Pogba coming in, Manchester United and Jose Mourinho clearly aren’t happy with that area of the park at the moment. That has led to rumours suggesting a former red could well be about to come back to the Theatre of Dreams.
The English media outlet The Sun say that Jose is preparing a £30million bid to bring Danny Drinkwater to Old Trafford when the January transfer window opens, with the 26-year-old clearly impressing our new boss.
Drinkwater spent four years at old Trafford from 2008 through to 2012, but spent the majority of his time here out on loan – until a permanent move to Leicester City came to fruition.
You’d imagine it’ll probably be quite difficult to prise him away from Leicester City at the moment. Particularly given the way we’re playing and the Foxes still being the current champions.
Money does talk, and if Claudio Ranieri can find an adequate replacement in time, then we may see a sensational return for Danny Drinkwater.
