Manchester United kept their unbeaten record intact, thanks to a drab 0-0 draw away at Liverpool.
Jose Mourinho’s men went to Anfield with a game-plan. They tried to keep it tight, whilst not giving the opposition any sniff of an opportunity. For the most part, the Red Devils managed that, and although we probably could have gone there with and attacked more, a point is a decent result.
After the match, a certain annoying German couldn’t help but take a dig at Mourinho and United, and after the game, the self-proclaimed Special One responded in the perfect manner.
“They played 3 in midfield. I thought playing at home, 7 points behind, they’d try more.” Journalist Kevin Palmer quoted Jose Mourinho as saying.
Like the gaffer says, if we were so poor, sitting so far back, why couldn’t Liverpool break us down? Klopp’s swashbuckling (overrated) attack created one clear-cut opportunity throughout the game – and the United back line deserves credit for that.
Seasons aren’t won, nor lost in October. Who knows, playing for a point could well be the difference-maker come May. It’s a long and hard season, and our manager is the absolute master when it comes to game management and picking your battles.
