The January transfer one seems to be a rather quiet one in terms of incoming transfers, despite plenty of goings on with players leaving. However, that said, it looks as though plans for the summer are already well underway, with Jose Mourinho with one eye seemingly on the future.
According to the usually reliable Independent newspaper, Luke Shaw is ‘almost certain’ to be out of Manchester United come the summer. They add that Mourinho is frustrated with the lack of development the left-back has shown – and that’s something injuries certainly have played a part in.
United will be open to offers for the man who they signed from Southampton over two years ago now, but Jose isn’t happy with the progress of the defender – and has even asked more senior players to have a private chat with the young man.
I do feel sorry for Shaw, because that horrific injury he suffered last season has obviously severely hampered the player, and being sidelined for so long will drain you both mentally and physically. The talent is obviously there, but he hasn’t played for the club in over six weeks now, and it has always felt like Jose Mourinho isn’t convinced at all by his abilities.
The Independent add that Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur would be interested in acquiring his services.
