The summer was an extremely busy one for Manchester United, with Jose Mourinho making four very big moves in the transfer window. Despite those additions, the manager is still tinkering his squad to suit his style of play, and there is one man that has already proven that point.
Brazilian Willian was one of Jose Mourinho’s title winners just two seasons ago, and now the right-winger has fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge under Antonio Conte.
The Daily Star say that the Manchester United manager is eyeing up a move to bring his former player to Old Trafford January. The report goes on to add that Mourinho is obviously a huge fan of the 28-year-old who hasn’t started for the London club in over a month.
Willian, who is rated as worth around £40million in the aforementioned report, would definitely be a tempting attacking option for Manchester United. However, I feel it’d be tough to get a deal done in January – particularly from such a fierce Premier League rival.
It also begs the question as to where exactly he would fit in. Henrikh Mkhitaryan seems to be finding form, Juan Mata is playing sensationally as of late, as is Wayne Rooney. On top of that, you also have the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Memphis Depay waiting in the wings.
