Jose Mourinho releases heartfelt statement after tragic Manchester attack

Manchester. A City United in tragedy today. We all know about the absolutely horrific events that took place in the centre of our beloved City last night, and in true, Mancunian fashion, every single member of our wonderful community was not going to let it ruin their lives.

People went to work amidst it all in a proper show of unity, and Manchester United will do the same as the Europa League final will take place tomorrow.

Ahead of the game, Jose Mourinho wrote a statement right from the heart about what has gone on, and the self-proclaimed Special One has got it spot on.

“We are all very sad about the tragic events last night; we cannot take out of our minds and our hearts the victims and their families.” Jose Mourinho told Manchester United’s official website.

“We have a job to do and we will fly to Sweden to do that job.  It is a pity we cannot fly with the happiness that we always have before a big game.”

“I know, even during my short time here, that the people of Manchester will pull together as one.”

As he rightfully says, Manchester United will continue to pull together as one in the wake of such a sad event that occurred. We forget that Manchester is now the home town of our players, and they’ll no doubt be feeling as distraught as the rest of us are at this point in time.

Sometimes, things are bigger than football and it was a touch of class when the manager confirmed that he would not conduct his regular pre-match press conference. In these harrowing times, there are more important things to be worrying about.
