Just when it looked to be over, the Ivan Perisic saga has taken another twist. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, translated by the Manchester Evening News, Jose Mourinho is set to give into Inter Milan’s demands, and Anthony Martial will be at the San Siro next season.
Earlier on in the week, reports suggested that the Serie A side had asked for Anthony Martial in return – be it on loan or on a permanent move.
Now, the aforementioned rumours reckon that the self-proclaimed Special One is going to give into those demands to get his man. Perisic, 28, would undoubtedly be a brilliant acquisition for Manchester United as he’d give us that extra dimension, but to lose one of the hottest talents in Europe for a player who’s rapidly approaching his 30s? I’d rather not…
With that said, we have to trust the manager wholeheartedly. So far, the gaffer has gotten every single one of his transfer decisions absolutely correct, so there is no need to start question his decision-making now.
Martial had an excellent debut season at Old Trafford, but last term, the Frenchman regressed somewhat. However, he’s had a solid pre-season tour and performed brilliantly out in the USA. If that’s an indicator as to how his upcoming season is going to go, then I’d definitely be keeping hold of the former AS Monaco man.
