Manchester United Football Club could be on the verge of one of the biggest transfers in the history of the game. Jose Mourinho has that ability to lure players in, even without the lack of Champions League football. Now, a move for Pogba looks close.
Whilst on tour, the media were quick to ask the self-proclaimed Special One about any potential deal to bring in Pogba to the club. Obviously, he remained the consummate professional and rather tightlipped.
“We know the profile of the player we want, we have three faces who fit the profile,” Mourinho said. “I am really confident Mr Woodward and the owners can get the profile of the player I think the squad needs.”
“I don’t confirm and I don’t deny. I cannot tell. First of all, because I don’t think it’s correct to speak about players from other clubs. He’s a Juventus player, not a Manchester United player. The only thing I can say is that my board, my directors, did a fantastic job to do 75% of the job I asked them to do.” Mourinho added.
However, the fact that he refused to deny any rumour is interesting. If there was no attraction to the player at all, then Mourinho would have just come out and denied it instantly.
It’s clear United’s interest is clearly genuine, and at this point in time the Red Devils are almost certainly in pole position. Madrid look out of the running, and the decision is now in the hands of the player and Juventus. Although it’ll probably take some convincing for the former to part with one of their prized assets.
