Manchester United Football Club simply have to bring in a new striker this season. Jose Mourinho has lost the services of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with the 35-year-old Swede released on a free transfer. His 28-goal haul simply has to be replaced, and it looks as though he has found his man, or should I say, men.
This is certainly interesting to me. I’m of the opinion that it really should be one in one out regarding Zlatan, but the fact that our Portuguese boss wants two seems slightly overkill.
Mourinho has always played a one striker system, and we already have both Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford on the books, who’d be ready to back up Alvaro Morata if the 24-year-old does come in.
Bringing in Romelu Lukaku on top of that wouldn’t provide the aforementioned young duo of Martial and Rashford with a whole lot of first-team opportunities; unless the gaffer sees their futures out wide.
For me, either bring in Morata or Lukaku, not both. It’d thwart the development of some top talents we have coming through the ranks, and that money could certainly be better spent in other areas of the field.
