Jose Mourinho to hire new Italian coach following Rui Faria’s Man United exit

Manchester United are to hire Italian fitness coach Stefano Rapetti, following Rui Faria’s decision to leave the club.

That’s according to the usually reliable Times, with the report claiming that Rapetti will be in control of the players’ physical condition.

Perhaps a tinkering behind the scenes is what United needs to freshen things up somewhat. Working alongside the same coach for over fifteen years will eventually take its toll – no doubt Faria is considering going into management in his own right, and it’s a move that I’d certainly wish him all the best with if he decides to take that path.

As for Rapetti, Mourinho would have planed this move meticulously and carefully. Although he may not be a household name, fitness levels is an underrated aspect in football.

Ensuring your superstars are able to maintain their bodies and remain in tip-top condition for a full season is tough. There have been many times this season where our players looked absolutely shattered come the end of games, and if Lapetti can help with that, then no doubt it’ll be considered an excellent appointment.

We also have to remember that Michael Carrick is joining the coaching staff this summer, and no doubt his experience and know-how of the English game will become integral to Mourinho.
