Manchester United have had some truly world class players down the years, with the club making a real name for themselves under Sir Alex Ferguson. One man who the Scot signed was Wayne Rooney, and our new boss Jose Mourinho has been chasing his signature for years.
According to the Daily Mirror, the self-proclaimed Special One was ‘desperate’ to land the 30-year-old striker whilst at both Chelsea and Real Madrid.
It was well documented that Mourinho wanted to bring our captain in when Sir Alex Ferguson left the club as his future was up in the air, but David Moyes decided to hand the forward a new long-term contract to fight off the interest.
We all know just how deadly Wayne Rooney was on his day, but the start of this season has certainly been something to forget about for the man from Croxteth. Hopefully, his form will pick up soon and we’ll see him fit and firing once again.
