Jose Mourinho wants new contracts for Man United’s midfield duo: report

Manchester United have several players out-of-contract this coming summer, with the club doing their utmost to tie down key players to new deals.

Now, according to a report from the London Evening Standard, Jose Mourinho is pushing hard for new contracts for both Ander Herrera and Juan Mata.

In the report, the Standard adds that Mourinho sees the pair as a major influence in the dressing room, ad he wants them to stick around due to the fact that the club is in turmoil at the moment. Mata and Herrera have potential to steady the ship.

It’s great to see our manager understand that these two are vital – both on and off the field. The pair never moan, they always perform when called upon and as squad players, they’re fantastic to have around.

Plus you also have to factor in that a large portion of the squad speaks Spanish, they can bridge that gap between those guys and the English-speakers. There is also the added benefit that they’re very close to David de Gea, who is also out of contract and should be offered a new deal. Perhaps they can help twist his arm and convince him to stay at the Theatre of Dreams…
