Jose Mourinho will still move for AS Monaco’s Fabinho, even after a deal for Nemanja Matic has been completed. That’s according to The Independent, who say that the manager wants to keep upgrading his squad and he sees the Brazilian as a valuable asset – mainly due to his versatility.
Fabinho, 23, is known for his ability to play in midfield first and foremost. He’s quick, strong in the tackle and can also play with the ball at his feet, too. However, he can also fill in as a right-back and when Monaco signed him, that is where he played at first.
For Mourinho, surely a move for Fabinho is ideal? United have a need to bring in a new midfielder, as well as providing some sort of competition for Antonio Valencia, so why not get a man who can do both?
I’d love for us to sign this guy. He’s an outstanding player who is tailor-made to play in the modern day Premier League. Fabinho is very similar in style to N’Golo Kante, but I’d add that he’s probably even more athletic and better on the ball than the aforementioned Frenchman.
He’d just bring a new dimension to our starting line-up, whilst offering extra protection to the back four. On top of that, it’d also allow more freedom to the likes of Paul Pogba.
