Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United transfer business has been nothing short of outstanding since his arrival at Old Trafford, as he has brought in the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba. His work isn’t done, though, but he’ll have to act fast before Wednesday’s deadline passes.
The Daily Record say that Mourinho still wants to bring in two defenders to bolster United’s options at the back, but the club will probably have to shift a couple of players on before the self-proclaimed Special One will be given more money to spend.
In terms of who he wants to bring in, an experienced defender has been well-documented to be high on the agenda. The Record name Southampton’s Jose Fonte as the number one target, but the club based on the South Coast aren’t going to want to lose the 32-year-old.
The same media outlet report that AS Monaco’s Fabinho is the other man in question. The Brazilian right-back has emerged as one of the best in the business over the last twelve months, so you do understand Mourinho’s interest in the 22-year-old. However, with the form that Antonio Valencia is currently displaying, you’d imagine this isn’t high on the list of priorities.
