Manchester United Football Club had a summer transfer window to forget. The Red Devils’ attempts at landing a huge centre-back signing fell through, leaving Jose Mourinho frustrated.
While that could explain the poor start to the season, it’s clear that United aren’t giving up. When January rolls around, they’re planning to make their move. The latest name to be linked is Chelsea’s out-of-favour winger, Victor Moses.
That’s according to Sport Bild in Germany, translated by the Daily Star. They say that a shock bid for the Antonio Conte favourite could well be on the cards when the winter window opens. Apparently, United are also looking at moves for Frankfurt’s Ante Rebic, and AS Roma’s Cengiz Under.
As for Moses, I can sort of see why Mourinho is interested. Predominantly a right-sided player, the Nigerian is versatile and would fill in an area of need for the self-proclaimed Special One.
He’s quick, a hard-worker and decent with the ball at his feet. Sure, he’s no world-beater, but sometimes it’s better to find players who fit your scheme, rather than going for a big-name and worrying about where they’ll fit in later.
Moses would likely be cheap as he isn’t playing, at 27, he’s right in his prime and I don’t doubt that he could do a good job for United – if only in the short-term.
