Jose Mourinho willing to cash in on Anthony Martial on one condition: report

How to solve a problem like an unhappy Anthony Martial? According to Jose Mourinho, you sell him; but only on one condition.

That’s according to The Guardian, who report that the self-proclaimed Special One will let Martial leave Manchester United if the right offer comes in from an overseas club.

Tensions seemingly have been high recently, with the 22-year-old Frenchman desperate to depart from Old Trafford this summer; probably due to Alexis Sanchez’s arrival, meaning a significant reduction in game-time.

It’s an intense situation. The club obviously see Martial’s limitless potential, whereas the manager doesn’t want to keep an unhappy player around the squad. This is the first time we’ve seen strained relationships between Mourinho and Edward Woodward, and it’ll be intriguing to see whether he does leave. Don’t forget, United still hold all the cards as they can activate a twelve-month clause in his contract, keeping him at the Theatre of Dreams until 2020 if they so choose.

I think every fan is praying for Martial to stay. The more I look at it, the more I think it makes sense to sell him abroad. Use the money that selling him would fetch in to bring a world-class right-winger, then the overall balance of the squad would look a whole lot better. It does sort of have that Kevin de Bruyne/Mohamed Salah feeling about it, though…
