Jose Mourinho hasn’t had the best of starts to the Premier League campaign, with Manchester United losing their last two fixtures.
Now, players and staff at Old Trafford believe that the self-proclaimed Special One could lose his job – if United lose against Burnley this Sunday. That’s according to the Daily Mail.
I said it when David Moyes lost his job, also when Louis van Gaal was removed from his position. The writing is on the wall for Mourinho whether we like it or not. As soon as the ‘sack’ discussion becomes a thing, that’s when you truly know there is a major problem.
Although we may well win this weekend, every time we lose from here on out, the question will rear its ugly head once again.
The decision lies with Edward Woodward, whom we know hasn’t been afraid to wield the axe before. It’s different this time, though. Mourinho’s a proven Premier League winner, who guided the Red Devils to their highest placed finished post-Sir Alex Ferguson.
Then you have the decision of who do you bring in as a replacement? Zinedine Zidane is available, as is Antonio Conte. Don’t be expecting a major change in style if either of those guys walk through the door, though…
