Jose: This Man United man was best player on the pitch against Chelsea

Manchester United’s defence of their FA Cup title is over. Jose Mourinho’s men were dumped out in acrimonious circumstances by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. After the game, the self-proclaimed Special One was trying to stay positive about the situation, although it must have been hard.

The Portuguese coach could have gone off on one, but you’d imagine he probably thought better of it, as it could well have meant another touchline ban.

Instead, he came out in support of the players, namely Paul Pogba. The 23-year-old came in for some heavy stick all over social media, but our manager clearly thought otherwise.

“We have to be positive, the players were phenomenal but Pogba was by far the best player on the pitch,” Mourinho said after the game, as per Sky Sports.

“He was a giant on the pitch. After him, all my other boys were fantastic.”

Manchester United were always going to find it tough as soon as Ander Herrera saw red. To be quite honest, I’m surprised it was only 1-0, but kudos to the ten guys out there. Every single one of them wore their heart on their sleeve and gave absolutely everything for the cause.

With that said, I totally understand exactly why the manager has come out and backed Pogba. For the first thirty minutes of the game, our Frenchman was all over N’Golo Kante. When we lost a man, though, the 23-year-old midfielder was poor, so Jose is showing his faith in the most expensive player on the planet.
