On deadline day, we covered several stories in regards to a potential Joshua King transfer. The latest came from Sky Sports News, who claimed that Manchester United considered making a second bid for the Norweigan, after failing with a first…
Obviously, the deal didn’t end up going through, however, there have still been ramifications of that for the player. According to the usually reliable David Ornstein in the Athletic, the 28-year-old has been left ‘frustrated’ with Manchester United, while also feeling ‘used’ and ‘messed about’ following the failed transfer…
On the day, there were whispers which suggested Bournemouth were looking for £50million to let King leave. However, sources believe the Cherries may have accepted £30m. Instead, the 20-time Premier League champions were only interested in a loan move.
Understandably, King wanted to come back to Manchester to prove that United were wrong to let him leave all those years ago. However, that opportunity obviously didn’t come to fruition.
Now, he’s feeling led on which is fair enough. That said, these deals are always complex and if Bournemouth weren’t willing to sanction a loan move, then the transfer was never going to happen.
I do feel sorry that King didn’t get his wish, though United can’t break away from their transfer strategy in order to keep the Norweigan happy…
