Journalist hints that Premier League goalkeeper could be on his way to Man United: report

Manchester United’s David de Gea seems to be embroiled in some sort of transfer rumour every single summer. The reports linking him with a move to Real Madrid just will not go away, and once again, another journalist is hinting at a potential exit for the Spaniard.

This time it’s coming from Richard Keys, who tweeted that Kasper Schmeichel could well be on his way to the Theatre of Dreams, before suggesting that De Gea could well leave.

First of all, we’d all be absolutely gutted if we lost the services of our current #1. The 26-year-old is one of the best in the business and obviously, if we were to lose his services, it’d be some huge task to try and replace him.

However, is Kasper Schmeichel really good enough to come in and be our main man in between the sticks? I doubt it. If I’m being brutally honest I’d much prefer us to save that money and give Sergio Romero a shot, because the Argentine genuinely didn’t put a foot wrong when called upon last season.

In an ideal world, we’d keep hold of De Gea and bring in Schmeichel as a backup. It’d be a great story if the Dane could come in and follow in his father’s footsteps.
