Juan Mata admits he doesn’t know if De Gea will stay at Man Utd

After Louis van Gaal came out and confirmed that Manchester United have offered David de Gea a lot of money to stay, the doubts crept in about the 24-year old’s future at the club in the long-term, with a potential move to Madrid looming.

Next up to have his say on the situation is one of De Gea’s close friends in the form of Juan Mata, but he was remaining rather tight-lipped.

When quizzed about his Spanish teammate De Gea, Juan Mata told IBT:

“I don’t know. To be honest, I don’t know. Ask him because I don’t know.

“I understand how importance he is for us.

“Against Crystal Palace he proved it again with a save that gave us the three points. I wish him to stay. Being selfish, I obviously hope him to remain with us. He gives us many points.”

It seems like Juan is looking at this one just exactly like us fans. We’re all desperate for him to stay, and perhaps Mata is even more desperate than us, because we all know about their off-field relationship being so strong.

Sadly though, I reckon United will lose David de Gea in the summer, and I think its time to start eyeing up potential replacements.
