Manchester United’s Juan Mata has been on the fringes of things recently, but today the 26-year old has reinforced his desire to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place at the club. Mata has started the last few games due to Wayne Rooney’s absence, but he hasn’t put in the type of performances you’d expect from the £37.1million man.
However its refreshing to see that the clever Spaniard is willing to try and work his way back into Louis van Gaal’s plans.
Mata said:
“What we have to do is what I did against Palace – seize every opportunity and to try to help the team,” he told Spanish station Cope. “Luckily on Saturday my goal was worth three points.”
But he added: “It was an explosion of joy because the game was difficult, because we came away from several games without a victory and [the goal] was important. I’m very happy.”
Mata’s goalscoring form has been excellent, having scored 9 goals in 22 league appearances for the club. If he puts in the performances like we all know he can, he could well turn into one of the best players in the league once again.
