Julian Alvarez agent ‘receives call’ from Man United: report

Man United have been in contact with the agent of Julian Alvarez.

Ralf Rangnick has a completely different style of playing to any other Manchester United manager prior. Hence, changes to the playing squad will inevitably be made at some point.

The German loves to work with young players and mould them into a style that fits his image. That’s why we firmly believe the club will target younger signings as a result.

One player who fits that bill is Julian Alvarez, who currently plies his trade for River Plate in Argentina.

Well, according to TyC Sports, with the translation coming from the Manchester Evening News live blog, United are keen on the attacker.

Apparently, the agent of the talented 21-year-old attacker, Fernando Hidalgo, has ‘received a call’ from United regarding a transfer.

The Argentine has a £16.8m release clause within his current deal at River Plate, which, in the modern game, is an extremely cheap transfer fee.

In truth, that’s all we know about Alvarez. He’s a striker who can play on the wing having scored 31 goals in 90 games for River Plate over the last few seasons.

He’s already been capped by the national team five times which tells you about how immensely talented the young man is. It’s also thought a move to Europe is only around the corner, with Jonathan Shrager confirming as much via Twitter last night.

Again, this feels like the sort of signing a Rangnick side would make. I’d like to think that the days of spending big money on marquee players are almost a thing of the past, with United starting to get back to what they do best.

Will a move be made in January? It’s too soon to say…

Would a Man United move for Julian Alvarez make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
