Manchester United need a big summer if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is to have a realistic chance at lasting the full 2019/20 season as manager.
It’s crazy to think how far the Red Devils have fallen over the lat few seasons, yet I get the impression it’ll get worse before things move in the right direction.
The latest transfer rumour only confirms that, with the usually reliable Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano, claiming that Juventus want to re-sign Paul Pogba this summer…
Apparently, the Old Lady have already opened talks with Mino Raiola and Manchester United about the 26-year-old – and a bid will be made. Romano also adds that the Red Devils will make their decision ‘soon’ – presumably on whether to sell the Mercurial Frenchman or not,
Although only initial contact has been made, this is a rumour that immediately makes sense to me. I think it’s fair to say that Pogba has struggled since moving back to Manchester. Where better to go than the place where he really made his name as a top-class footballer?
Obviously, a Real Madrid move is probably also tempting, playing for Juve would be somewhere he can perform under significantly less pressure due to the fact that he’d be Cristiano Ronaldo’s teammate. Plus, would you really bet against them two winning the Champions League next season if they partnered up?
I guess the only potential stumbling block could be the transfer fee. There’s no way United would let Pogba leave for anything less than the £89million that they paid to sign him. Would Juve be willing to splash that much on one player…?
