Kai Rooney signs for Man United Football Club. Yes, you did read that correctly.
As Manchester United were beating Sheffield United at Bramall Lane last night, something else was happening at the AON Training Complex. The Red Devils have been busy hoovering up all the hottest footballing-talents over the last couple of years and they’re doing so again – in the form of one of their own…
Kai Rooney, the son of legendary ex-striker Wayne, has signed a contract at Old Trafford. Aged just eleven, United must have seen enough talent in there to take on the young Englishman.
It goes without saying that Rooney is up there amongst the best ever players to pull on the Red jersey. If Kai goes on to have even 10% of the career that his father enjoyed, he’d be a massive success within football.
Wayne would take to Twitter last night to admit that it was a ‘proud day’ for him, with Kai’s mother Coleen also in attendance.
Check out the photo of Kai Rooney, all-smiles, as he signs for Man United:
First and foremost, this makes me feel so old!
This is one cool story though. The Rooney name will forever live long in the minds of United fans. How insane would it be if Kai goes on to play for the United first-team?
Sure, I don’t doubt that the Wayne connection has certainly helped Kai’s case at a contract, though there’s no way United would sign players just for the sake of it.
In regards to Kai’s position, it’s far too early in his young career to say. It also goes without saying it’ll be a while before we see him in action, even at youth level.
For now, all that’s left to say is congratulations Kai and the whole Rooney family!
